About this artwork

The Rest of AI is a contemporary figurative painting by Félix Rubio that reflects on the fragility of meaning in an age of artificial intelligence and information overload. A faceless figure sits beside the sea reading a newspaper while red cables spread through the scene like nervous systems, roots or broken channels of communication. Pages and fragments of language drift into the air, suggesting truth, memory and information losing their stability.

The apparently resting artificial intelligence becomes an ironic image: a machine surrounded by data while words escape and communication dissolves. The coastal setting reinforces the sense of impermanence, as knowledge and language seem to disperse into sea and sky.

The surface combines acrylic, oil, pumice-stone texture and modelling paste. Visible brushwork, impasto and softer oil glazes create a tactile tension between structure and dissolution.
