The Victory of Soroella is a deliberately ironic and ambiguous title, evoking the luminous legacy of Joaquín Sorolla while shifting it toward a more unstable, contemporary territory. The painting uses intense colour, fragmented figures and apparently playful elements to conceal a more critical reading beneath the surface.

Small phrases, symbols and details are intentionally hidden throughout the composition, acting almost like clues. They are not meant to provide a single explanation, but to invite the viewer to discover different layers and construct a personal interpretation.

Sorolla’s Mediterranean light and chromatic vitality remain as a distant reference, transformed here through distortion, irony and visual tension. Celebration and unease coexist in the same scene: what initially appears joyful gradually reveals something more uncertain.

In 2026, The Victory of Soroella was selected as one of the 15 finalists in the Painting Section of the XXV Premio Fabrizio De André, Italy.
