About this artwork
The Demiurge of Plato is an original 2026 mixed media painting by Félix Rubio inspired by Plato’s Timaeus. The work explores cosmic order, mathematics and the transformation of chaos into form through layered material, geometry and expressive gesture.
A dark central nucleus suggests an eye, singularity or point of origin, while sweeping blue, white, ochre and gold forms radiate outward as if matter and space were acquiring structure. The parchment of mathematical formulas creates a dialogue between ancient philosophy and contemporary scientific language.
Equations referring to matter, time, continuity, spacetime, gravitation and proportion act as symbols of intelligible order rather than literal illustrations of Platonic cosmology. The work brings together painting — material and instinctive — with mathematics — precise and abstract — to evoke an invisible intelligence shaping instability into form.
