About this artwork

Medium and materials

Oil, acrylic, acrylic modelling paste, chalk and pumice stone on a high-quality okoumé wood panel.

The Monad of Leibniz is a philosophical reflection on perception, individuality and the construction of reality. Inspired by Leibniz’s concept of the monad, the painting presents the world as a complex network of independent points of view, each containing its own representation of the universe.

The seated figure observes a fragmented architectural landscape, while a solitary walker moves towards an uncertain opening. Geometric planes, doors, trees, clouds and distant structures coexist as partial realities rather than as a single objective space.
